Pointe Coupee Electric’s 74th membership meeting Jan. 30

NEW ROADS - The 74th Annual Membership Meeting of Pointe Coupee Electric Membership Corporation is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 30 at noon at the Scott Civic Center on Major Parkway in New Roads. Registration will take place from 9 a.m. - noon. Registration will close promptly at noon.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. for free health screenings, informational exhibits and demonstrations. Entertainment will also be provided. Goody bags will be given to the first 500 members to register.

The business meeting will begin promptly at noon.  Members are reminded to bring their registration cards included with the notification of the meeting.  The business meeting will consist of reports of officers, directors and committees; announcement of members elected to serve on the board; amendments to the articles of corporation and conversion, and other business that may properly come before the membership.

Drawings will be held to select the winners of the 2013 continuing education scholarships being offered by PCEMC to high school seniors, and endowments will be presented to the 4-H programs of Iberville, Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge parishes.

Members of Pointe Coupee Electric will have the opportunity to meet their directors and staff of their electric cooperative, Public Service Commissioners, and fellow co-op members. 

Refreshments will be served as the members check in at the registration tables and approximately 50 lucky members in attendance will take home door prizes. Only Pointe Coupee Electric members are eligible to win door prizes.

There will be exhibits and free health screenings from numerous health care providers from 9 - 11:30 a.m. The exhibits will also showcase services and programs provided by Pointe Coupee Electric and various other organizations which include the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives (ALEC); Acadian On Call; H.O.P.E. Ministries of Pointe Coupee; Catholic Charities; Coastal Foot Clinic, Dr. Richard Palecki, D.P.M; LSU Ag Center; Pointe Coupee Council on Aging; Pointe Coupee Diabetes Education and Nutrition Program; Pointe Coupee Homebound Health Services and Pointe Coupee Hospice and the Pointe Coupee General Hospital. Various free health screenings and health related information for Pointe Coupee Electric members and their guests will be provided. Acadian Ambulance will offer standby services.
