The Friends of the Iberville Parish Libraries Annual Book sale begins Wednesday, March 6, 2013 and runs through Saturday, March 9.

This is the group’s main fundraiser and has been held for over 20 years.

“We are always surprised at the number of books we have and the diversity of subject matter” says Friends President Bethany Cardinal.  “It’s like Christmas when we open the boxes, like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates.”

Books will be arranged by subject matter, paperbacks sell for 25 cents and hard covers for 50 cents. CD’s and DVD’s are $1. Framed art and encyclopedias will also be sold. There will also be small garage sale-type items available.

The Clearance Day Sale will be Saturday, March 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Regular Sale Days are Wednesday through Friday, March 6 – 8 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Friends of the Iberville Public Libraries is a non-profit organization dedicated to help support, promote and enhance the Iberville Parish library system, which is composed of the main library in Plaquemine and seven additional branches located throughout the parish.

They help sponsor various programs and events at the library throughout the year and provide supplemental monies, which enable the library system to purchase Summer Reading Program books and supplies. The Friends also donate some of the prize monies awarded at the library’s annual Acadian Art Show.

“We’re very lucky to have an active Friends group to assist us in our programs and collection.” stated Iberville Parish Library Director, Dannie Ball  “We hope the community comes out to the book sale, it’s fun and it’s for a great cause.”

The sale will be held in the West Wing of the Carl F. Grant Civic Center at 24700 J. Gerald Berret Blvd. in Plaquemine, LA. Library contact is Elizabeth Haynes at 225-687-4397 or ehaynes@state.lib.la.us.
