As a culminating activity for the study of volcanoes, the
eighth grade earth science students constructed models of volcanoes.
The students used ipads to research methods of constructing models of "erupting" volcanoes. Each student presented his or her findings to one of 10 lab groups and justified why his or her procedure should be used.
Once the group chose which process would be used, the students organized materials, planned what to, and constructed the volcanoes. On the final day of the lab, students displayed "erupting" volcanoes.
A variety of materials were used in the construction of the models and in the volcanic eruptions.
