Tri-Parish Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale April 13

Tri-Parish Master Gardeners will host their 2nd annual spring plant sale on Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the greenhouse located on "Mike" Zito Lane, behind the L.S.U. Extension Office located across from the Zito Multi Use Center.
A wide variety of annual and perennial plants will be on sale for your selection. Some of these include: begonias, coleus, vinca, impatiens, petunias, spider plants, ferns daylilies, lantana, verbena, sweet potato vines was well as tomato and other vegetable garden plants including L.S.U. recommended varieties.
During the sale, County Agent Miles Brashier will share his expertise by answering questions about the many phases of gardening related to landscaping, plant propagation, plant pathology, pesticides and other horticulture questions. Other knowledgeable Master Gardeners will also be available to assist with information.
All parish residents are urged to participate in this worthwhile activity. Proceeds from the sale will be funneled back into the community and parish in the form of on-going programs and future programs. Current programs that have benefited from these proceeds are: 4-H Youth Development, Junior Master Gardener, a community garden, Habitat for Humanity, and donations to the Food Bank, plus assisting with landscape projects at the library and other public facilities.
The Master Gardener Program consists of taking 15 three-hour sessions on general gardening, landscaping, entomology, pathology, annuals, perennials and many other topics of interest. These are taught by specialists from the L.S.U. Agriculture Center.
