PLAQUEMINE - The Iberville Parish 4-H Program will host Achievement Day at the C.M. "Mike" Zito Multipurpose Center on Friday, May 10.

Local 4-H'ers will be recognized for their accomplishments throughout the 2012-2013 school year at this annual celebration. In addition to a traditional awards ceremony, Achievement Day will feature a series of hands-on educational demonstrations, activities and contests.

The theme of Achievement Day is "Social Responsibility: Lending a Helping Paw to Animals in Need."

Throughout the 2012-2013 school year, Iberville Parish 4-H'ers lead the Iberville Pet Pals Project, a service learning project.

The goal of this effort is to raise awareness about animal neglect issues in Iberville Parish and to encourage residents to be responsible animal owners.

Components of this project and theme will be incorporated into Achievement Day in the form of photo displays, t-shirts designed by 4-H'ers, and throughout the activities and demonstrations.

Achievement Day activities will celebrate social responsibility by improving leadership skills, camaraderie and teamwork among youth throughout Iberville Parish.

All Iberville Parish 4-H'ers are invited and encouraged to attend this celebratory educational event.
