Westside Campus offering training courses

PLAQUEMINE - CATC Westside Campus located at 25250 Tenant Road  in Plaquemine is offering training courses on computer literacy and applications, pre-nursing, instrumentation and electrical training.

Are you feeling left behind in the world of technology? Westside Campus is offering this course to provide confidence in using the computer.

Students will learn fundamentals of the computer with respect to both the hardware and the software. The lessons include a step-by-step approach to Microsoft Office 2010 Applications.

Students will master e-mail and the Internet. Textbooks are not provided. From 5:30 -  8:30 p.m.

Westside Campus’s Pre-Nursing program includes courses that will prepare the student to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Medical Assistant (MA). 

All students who complete the course satisfactory will be employable as a CNA. Courses will transfer into the LPN and MA program, which are both offered at the Westside Campus in the fall. 

In addition to CNA, courses include Medical Math, Medical Terminology, and Basic Body Structure and Function. From 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Westside Campus’s Instrumentation program includes four levels of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).  Industrial careers related to technology are linked to instrumentation.

This course is for NCCER certifications in Level 1. It includes classroom and hands-on instruction. Topics include controllers, electrical theory, regulators, control valves, logic circuits, and process control theory. Textbooks are provided.

Westside Campus’s Electrical program includes four levels of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Industrial electrical jobs exist in new construction, renovations and repairs. This course is for NCCER certifications in Level 1.

It includes classroom and hands-on instruction. Topics include electrical theory, switches, distribution panels, residential applications, commercial application, and industrial applications. Textbooks are provided.
