Parish Council awards Ochsner Health Center bid

The Iberville Parish Council unanimously approved awarding the $19.6 million construction bid to build an Ochsner Health Center to Lincoln Builders during their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday.

Construction will begin in the next month at a site along La. 1 with completion of the 43,000 square-foot facility expected in 14 months.

The parish's only hospital, River West Medical Center, was closed due to damage from hurricanes in 2008.

The center will include 22 patient exam room, three primary care physicians, a nurse practitioner and one OB/GYN.

The council also recognized Rev. Cleo Milano, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church, who is moving on to Our Lady Of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge.
