Huey P. Long Bridge celebration seeking motorists who crossed in 1935
BATON ROUGE - To celebrate the expansion of the Huey P. Long Bridge in June, state transportation officials are looking for people who crossed the span when it opened in 1935.
Residents will be honored at the ribbon-cutting ceremony June 16, marking the completion of the $1.2 billion modernization project.
"We want to recognize the folks who drove over those original, narrow lanes in 1935 and who will celebrate the new, wider lanes in 2013," state transportation Secretary Sherri H. LeBas said.
Prospective honorees may submit their contact information by email at email@example.com or by mailing it to Huey P. Long Bridge Widening, 4910 Pontchartrain Road, Jefferson, La., 70121.
