Kinya Heard, sixth-grade teacher at East Iberville School, spearheaded an end-of-the-year adventure and educational learning trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, for sixth grade students.

The trip provided experiences of science, math, architecture, and technological advances, outside the classroom setting, including many of the tools and innovative technologies used to create the world's most advanced theme park.

The class learned how physics, computer technology, general science and even horticulture were used to design and build the state-of-the-art theme park. The group also learned about the foliage throughout the park and specific technologies for launching The Incredible Hulk Coaster and the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

"This trip was truly an experience of a lifetime for our students and parents who were able to attend," Heard said.

Heard said that students held fundraising activities and many area businesses and Iberville Inc. assisted in funding the trip.
