Iberville Parks and Recreation in conjunction with the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office and local non-profit, We Are The Difference Inc., recently sponsored an Informative Women's Self-Defense Class at the Carl F. Grant Civic Center.

The class was hosted by Rory Vaughn. His partner, Eric Tankersley assisted.

Attendees were pleasantly surprised by an appearance from Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi who presented class members with a "pink" Mace keychain. Stassi also addressed the class.

Those attending became well informed on the methods that can be used to better protect themselves.

"Iberville Parish is a great place to live and we are fortunate that our community is so well protected," spokesperson Rhonda Harrell said.
