White Castle High School introduces new band program

WHITE CASTLE - White Castle High School hosted a parent informational meeting for students interested in joining the new band program.

Several interested parents were in attendance.

The school's principal, Charley Handy, welcomed parents and students, then introduced the new Dean of Students and Academic Affairs/Southern University Liaison, Gail Edwards.

After referencing a few of the new programs coming to White Castle High School, Edwards introduced former White Castle band director, Elmo Claverie, Jr. 

Claverie gave information about the music program while relating the previous band program to the expectations for building a new program.

After introducing the new band director, St. Andrews, parents were provided with information about the program .

For more information, the school will host a second informational meeting on June 19. Interested parents and  students are encouraged to stop by the WCHS library between the hours of noon -  3 p.m. to sign up and receive information about instruments, band fundamental and techniques workshops and enrollment in classes.
