MSA-West students awarded at 84th FFA State Convention

ALEXANDRIA - The Louisiana Future Farmers of America celebrated its 84th State FFA Convention in Alexandria June 4-7.

In attendance, along with many members and FFA chapters from across the state, were six active FFA members from MSA-West. The local members who attended the convention were Nathan Allen, Christen Diamond, Rivers Dupree, Raylan Hracek, Kali Leonard and Hunter Monismith.

During the convention, students participated in leadership workshops, networked with agricultural professionals and students from across the state and conducted business of the Louisiana FFA Organization.

Along with these activities, students were able to compete in various contests and receive awards for their various accomplishments throughout the year.

All six members received the honor of serving on the courtesy corps committee, which assists the convention staff in fulfilling the responsibilities of the convention. Those students received a medal for their hard work.

In addition, two students received first-place honors in their respective contests.

Raylan Hracek participated in the Agriscience Fair where her project placed first. Hracek received a plaque and the opportunity to compete at the National FFA Agriscience Competition in Louisville in October.

Kali Leonard also receive first-place with her proficiency application for her outstanding Supervised Agricultural Experience Project. Leonard began her project by creating and maintaining the MSA FFA Chapter website and scrapbook.

Because of her hard work and dedication to this, she received a banner, plaque, cash prize, scholarship, and the chance to compete at the National FFA Convention in October.
