Seventh Annual Papa George Fairchild Jambalaya Cook-off benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Sept. 8
ST. GABRIEL - Have you ever had or known a child with cancer? We all have! We have also had the honor of visiting St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Memphis, Tenn. and I can tell you this is a truly wonderful place. Where miracles happen everyday. You can not leave there without it touching your heart. Every child that goes there is never turned away; no matter what!
We are asking everyone to participate in our local Seventh Annual Papa George Fairchild Jambalaya Cook-off benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on September 8, 2013.
Through the past six years with your help, we have raised over $62,000 for the children of St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Local cooks and some from surrounding areas will be cooking Chicken Jambalaya on wood just like Papa George did in the first World Champion Jambalaya Festival Cook-off held in Gonzales, Louisiana in 1968.
Cooking will start at 6 a.m., winners announced at 1:30 p.m.
Come out an enjoy good music, fellowship and delicious Jambalaya cooked by some of the greatest Jambalaya cooks in the world.
Bring your lawn chairs, friends and family and sit under the old oak trees at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Or just come make a day of visiting with old friends or making new ones while
helping St. Jude Children's Hospital at the same time.
Jambalaya will be sold for $5 served with white beans and bread, starting at 11 a.m.
The ladies of the area will be selling all kinds of delicious homemade sweets.
There will be a Mini-pot cook-off for children starting at 10:30 a.m. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each to win a chance at a
homemade LSU Quilt, St. Jude Children's Quilt and lots of other wonderful donated items.
T-shirts, hats, koozies and other items will also be sold.
Free admission, Everyone Welcome!
