ST. MARTINVILLE - The St. Martinville Main Street Association is proud to announce that they will sponsor the Annual La Grande Boucherie on Saturday Oct. 5, 2013 in conjunction with the Annual Tour du Teche Boat Race, which will be held Friday Oct. 4, 2013.

The La Grande Boucherie has been a cultural festival in St. Martinville for over 40 years and has been hosted in the past by the La Grande Boucherie des Cajun, formally known as the St. Martinville Jaycee's.

Activities at past Boucherie festivals included the grease pig contest, the grease pole contest and the cultural slaughtering of the pig. Unfortunately due to many things such as weather and other activities in the area the Boucherie Festival had too many consecutive cancellations and it was concluded.

In 2012, in hopes of reviving a long cultural/traditional festival the La Grande Boucherie des Cajuns Inc. approached the St. Martinville Main Street Association and asked that they host the festival. By majority vote, the Main Street Association started preparing for the festival to be held in 2013.

Tour de Teche La Grande Boucherie will be held on the City of St. Martinville newly acquired festival grounds located in downtown St.Martinville along Bayou Teche on North New Market Street starting Friday Oct. 4 - Saturday Oct. 5, 2013.

Music line up includes Wayne Toups from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 5.

Gates open from 6-10 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday. There will be activities for the entire family, food and craft booths and Bayou boat races.
