PLAQUEMINE - Dangerous weather conditions or other emergency situations can arise quickly and without notice, but Iberville residents now have a way to get emergency information from the Iberville Office of Emergency Preparedness on their home or cell phones.

Simply go to the I-CAER website at www.I-CAER.org and a click on the button titled "Emergency Phone Notifications" at the bottom of the home page. Complete a simple form requesting name, address and phone number, and you will be registered to receive alerts.

"This is a very valuable tool for local residents," noted Laurie Doiron, Iberville Emergency Preparedness Director. "We monitor weather conditions and can alert residents when we know that a tornado or other severe weather is coming, or when we have information about an accident here that is causing major traffic or other problems."

The registration is part of the new I-CAER website, which also provides valuable hurricane information, home and personal safety tips, first aid information, how to shelter in place in case of a chemical spill or leak, and what to do in a variety of emergency situations. The site also includes detailed hurricane information, preparation check lists, a hurricane tracking chart and more.
