National Day of the Acadians program Aug. 15

ST. MARTINVILLE - The Acadian Memorial will be celebrating the National Day of the Acadians with a full day of programming Thursday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
Interpretative Rangers from Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site will showcase traditional handmade toys, Acadian hunting and trapping tools and the furs of animals local to this area.
Mark A. Rees, Ph.D., RPA Associate Professor of Anthropology at ULL will also present a multidisciplinary research effort to locate, identify, and investigate homesteads and unmarked gravesites of Acadian exiles in south-central Louisiana.
