More than 30 educators and advocates of the Community Network Pilot in Iberville Parish met with Louisiana Superintendent John White on Tuesday at Iberville Elementary School's Early Childhood Center. Attending were School Board members left to right, Dorothy Sansoni and Polly Higdon, Pre-K Coordinator Dinez Green, Early Childhood Coordinator Lydia Canova, Supt. White, Iberville Elementary Principal Delores Thibodaux, and Iberville Superintendent P. Edward Cancienne. White visited two classrooms of pre-k and then met with members of the Iberville Community Network Pilot, comprised of school system members, Head Start, and private childcare center directors. The network is one of eight school systems piloting a one year program to get more children into pre-k and to increase the academic readiness of students as they enter kindergarten. The group welcomed Sheriff Brett Stassi, who works with Iberville schools on safety issues. Superintendent White visited with pre-k students in the classrooms of teachers Quinn Merritt and Heidi Gaudet.
