Evangeline Water Ceremony kicks off International Acadian Festival

2013 Evangeline Queen Deanna Kaycee Keller will be center stage in upcoming days as the annual International Acadian Festival celebrates Longfellow's poem of the French Acadians migration south to the bayous of south Louisiana to begin a new life. The Evangeline Water Ceremony, which includes the arrival of the Queen and her Indian princesses by canoe, kicks off the festival's events Saturday at sunset along the Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park following Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Keller is the daughter of Dave and Dianna Keller.
