National Merit Scholarship Corporation announces semifinalist scholars

BATON ROUGE - The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has recognized Lawrence Elkins and Jake Campesi as National Merit Semifinalist Scholars.
National Merit Scholarship semifinalists rank among the top one percent of high school seniors nationwide based on the PSAT/NMSQT standardized test.
The National Merit Scholarship Program, founded in 1955, is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships.
Both seniors attend Catholic High School and have maintained 4.0 grade point averages throughout their high school careers.
They members of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Honorary Math Fraternity and participate in numerous other extracurricular activities.
Both attended St. John Elementary and St. John Middle School. Elkins is the son of Kathryn and Charles Elkins of Plaquemine and Campesi is the son of Kathryn and Michael Campesi of White Castle.
