PINEVILLE - The U.S. Forest Service is reopening offices and recreational areas that have been closed during the government shutdown.
Kisatchie National Forest recreation areas on all five ranger districts are open and ready for visitors.
As the only national forest in the state of Louisiana, Kisatchie boasts a multitude of recreation opportunities this time of year including hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, picnicking and much more.
"Our unique and beautiful forest is a perfect place for families to get outside and experience the great outdoors," said Jim
Caldwell, staff officer for Public Affairs, Recreation and Heritage at Kisatchie National Forest.
