WATD sponsors Fall Fest/Gumbo Cook-Off Nov. 2

PLAQUEMINE - We Are The Difference, Inc. will sponsor their Fourth Annual Fall Fest on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m.  at the Bayou Plaquemine Waterfront Park.

This community event provides entertainment for everyone in the family.

The day begins with the Inaugural Bake-Off judging at 1 p.m. The homemade items will then be available for purchase in the Sweet Shop.

Gumbo will be available to purchase by the bowl or by the quart and judging will be at 2:30 p.m. Spaghetti dinners will be sold from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Children’s activities begin at 1 p.m. and feature a Spacewalk with slide, horseshoes, sack races, face painting, petting zoo, arts and crafts, tug of war, bean bag toss, pumpkin decorating and other surprises. A hay ride will also be provided during the day.

The silent auction items will be on display throughout the day with bidding closing at 4 p.m. There are lots of great gifts and something for everyone at the auction.

Local vendors will have booths set up and the November Cookies and Canvas will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the meeting room.

Live music by Wild Card Band begins at 5 p.m. and a team Treasure Hunt will kick off at 6 p.m.

The raffle drawing will be held at 7 p.m. with prizes including an iPad Mini, Nottoway spa treatment and LSU football grill.

A portion of all proceeds benefit kindergarten student Sidnye Simoneaux, who was seriously injured in a lawnmower accident.
