The Plaquemine High School football players are wearing their jerseys and there is a big game this week. But they are not headed to the gridiron. The Green Devils are on their way to Crescent Elementary and North Iberville Elementary Schools to encourage reading. Players took time out of their busy schedule to give back to the community recently because coach Paul Distefano recognizes that importance and wants to give his players the opportunity to be seen as more than just a position on the field. The opportunity allowed the football players to get more out of football than just playing. A selection of football players read to elementary students, who listened attentively and participated in great discussions about the literature.
