PLAQUEMINE - We are excited to announce the return of Food for Fines at your Library. It’s a great chance to pay library fines and help the hungry in our communities.

How does it work? Just bring in any non-perishable food items to any Iberville branch library from Dec. 1 to Jan. 31, 2014, and the library will waive $1 owed on library fines per each food item. Sorry, but this drive is only for overdue fines, not for lost or damaged book charges.

Food donations will be given to Our Brothers' Keeper Food Bank in Plaquemine, 687-9986.  No food with expired dates or dented cans will be accepted. Your Library will gladly accept food donations not related to library fines. Some examples of acceptable food types: canned vegetables, canned soups, dried beans, canned meats, flour, rice, peanut butter, pasta, corn meal, breakfast and cereal bars and any canned, bagged or boxed non-perishable food.

For more information call the Plaquemine Library at 687-2520.
