Asolo Repertory Theatre cancels ‘Hair’ preview after company member tests positive for COVID
Asolo Repertory Theatre was forced to cancel Thursday night’s preview performance of the season-opening musical “Hair” after one of the company members tested positive for COVID-19.
The theater is following strict health and safety protocols. It requires that the rest of the company be tested before performances can resume. Because of a shortened rehearsal schedule due to the pandemic, the theater had earlier canceled a preview that was originally scheduled for Wednesday night.
“Hair” marks the indoor reopening of Asolo Rep, which presented a winter and spring season of outdoor productions after canceling all indoor shows beginning in March 2020.
The theater is among more than 30 local arts groups following the #SafeArtsSarasota protocols, requiring that all patrons show a negative COVID-19 test (or show proof of vaccination) and wear masks indoors.
Josh Rhodes directs a one-act version of the classic “American tribal love-rock musical” by Galt MacDermot, Gerome Ragni and James Rado. For more information: 941-351-8000; asolorep.org
