Through the generosity of Mr. Willie Nelson and Farm Aid, the Louisiana Interchurch Conference (LIC) has received a grant to continue the Farm Advocacy Program that the LIC began over thirty years ago. The LIC operates a hotline with a farm advocacy worker, Mrs. Betty Puckett, who offers counsel to farmers facing difficulties with discrimination and/or financial hardships.

The program also provides limited funds to help farmers with small grants for household needs when disasters, medical issues, or other uncontrollable financial hardships strike. A grant application form is available online at  www.lainterchurch.org/resources/index.htm#Farm_Aid.

To learn more about the Farm Advocacy Program, please call the Louisiana Interchurch Conference at 225-344-0134 or send an email to LaInterchurch@aol.com.

The Louisiana Interchurch Conference is a 16-member group of Christian denominations that began in 1970 to further the aims of Christian unity, service, and witness in Louisiana and the region. To learn more about Farm Aid, Inc., visit their web site at www.farmaid.org or call 1-800-FARM-AID.
