Courtney Lynn Mumphrey of Plaquemine and James Scott Cox of Metairie will marry in a 7 p.m. ceremony June 27, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Jeffery and Elizabeth Mumphrey of Plaquemine and the granddaughter of Faye Mumphrey of Denham Springs and Magdalen Gibson of Plaquemine and the late Joseph Mumphrey and Mose Gibson. She is a graduate of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She is a medical student at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.

The prospective groom is the son of Charles and Lynet Cox of Metairie and the grandson of Mildred Cox of Natchez, Miss and the late Charles Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vogt of New Orleans. He is a graduate of Our Lady of the Hills in Kerrville, Texas, LSU with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and LSU Health Sciences School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He is employed as a nurse at East Jefferson Hospital.
