Hidden Treasurers remember Last Island
On Sunday, September 8, 2019 Hidden Treasures invited members of Iberville Community Theatre to do a portrayal of survivors from Last Island that were a part of Iberville history.
Last Island was located off the coast of Louisiana and was a resort island for many Louisianans. In 1856 it was struck by a hurricane that wiped out most of the island and killed half of the people there at the time.
It is a story of loss, anger, fear, survival, and heroes and needs to be remembered. Hidden Treasures and Iberville Community Theatre are both under We Are The Difference, Inc.
WATD Annual Scholarship Wreath Auction Held
We Are the Difference sponsors the Jose Alvarez Memorial Arts Scholarship. The funds for the scholarship are provided through their Annual Wreath Auction. The scholarship is given to a high school senior in Iberville parish that plans to include arts in their college curriculum.
This award is named after Jose Alvarez who was an actor with Iberville Community Theatre. There were over 50 wreaths donated locally and the auction hosted a full house on this special night memorializing a gifted man.
