Trick or Treat hours set for parish
The official hours for trick or treat for children under 12 in Plaquemine and unincorporated areas of the parish have been scheduled for 6-8 p.m. October 31, Halloween night. The Village of Grosse Tete, meanwhile, will celebrate Halloween with its “Boo on the Bayou” Friday.
Plaquemine Mayor Mark A. “Tony” Gulotta reminded residents participating in the annual ritual to turn their porch lights on as a signal to trick or treaters.
The Plaquemine Board of Selectmen agreed on the hours last week. Under earlier resolution, the Iberville Parish Council adopts the same hours, and most municipalities follow suit.
A night earlier, the Iberville Parks & Recreation District (IPRD) will hold its ninth “Boo on the Belleview” from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Belleview District Park for children under 10.
IPRD Executive Director Mike Markins described the event as a safe place for young children to trick or treat. Last year, more than 2,000 children participated, he said.
Village of Grosse Tete’s annual Boo on the Bayou is set for Friday, Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., but at a new location.
Due to construction at the park adjacent to the Interstate and the bayou, the children’s Halloween event has been moved to the park at 16970 Cedar St. (take a left at JP’s Grocery).
Age limit for children is infant to 12 years old.
The event is sponsored by the Village of Grosse Tete and the Iberville Parish Council Office of Tourism.
