Iberville residents die in fatal crashes

A White Castle woman died in a one-car accident on La. 993 last Thursday, and a St. Gabriel man died in a tractor accident Sunday afternoon, authorities reported.

Kirsch K. Kember, 28, of White Castle, died in a one-car crash on La. 993, west of La. 404, shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday, State Police Troop A reported.

Eugene White of 2140 Besson Lane, St. Gabriel, died in a tractor accident on La. 3115 in St. Gabriel, the St. Gabriel Police said.

Kember driving a 2008 Mazda MZ3 north on La. 993 when she exited the roadway to the right, according to Trooper Russell G. Graham II. He said her car crossed a driveway, entered a ditch, struck culvert, became airborne and began to roll.

Graham said Kember, not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected as the vehicle flipped. She was the only occupant of the car. Alcohol was not suspected as a factor in the crash, but a blood sample was submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis, the trooper said.

In St. Gabriel, White apparently lost control of a tractor and overcompensated, resulting in the fatal accident, police said in a news release. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
