Iberville Sheriff’s deputies last week arrested two Maringouin men on charges of possession of a sawed-off shotgun and illegal discharge of a weapon after a shots-fired call, Chief of Detectives Blair Favaron said.

Deputies responding to the call at Angelloz Street and Railroad Avenue found Quinton Carter, 18, of Stockton Street, and Kevin Christmas, 17, of 10645, Second Street, Favaron said.

He said the officers saw a discharged shotgun shell beside them; later, they found a live shell in Carter’s pocket and retrieved a shotgun with a barrel length below the legal limit from beside the railroad tracks.

Carter was arrested on the gun charges, and Christmas for obstruction of justice.

As of Monday, Carter was free on a $20,000 bond, while Christmas remained in the Iberville Parish Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond, records showed. District Judge William C. Dupont set the bonds.
