Plaq. OMV manager charged Monday with malfeasance

DEIDRE CRUSE

Louisiana State Police detectives on Monday arrested a manager of the Plaquemine Office of Motor Vehicles after an investigation showed she had been involved in fraudulent activities while in her position as office manager, according to a news release from Troop A.

Stacy Pierce, 37, of 625904 Fall St., Plaquemine, was arrested and booked into the Iberville Parish Jail on two counts each of malfeasance in office, injuring public records, and issuing worthless checks.

The detectives received information last week alleging that Pierce was issuing fraudulent drivers licenses and rendering services to acquaintances without collecting the required fees.

Pierce also allegedly wrote two personal checks to the Department totaling $500.00 to replace money she had previously borrowed from department finances.  Pierce’s bank later returned the checks unpaid due to insufficient funds.

“The Office of Motor Vehicles has strict policies prohibiting this type of activity,” said OMV Commissioner Kay Hodges.  “We have a zero tolerance for employees engaging in any improper conduct that violates the public’s trust and compromises the integrity of this department
