Iberville Parish has purchased five acres of land on Rosedale Road in Rosedale and has received a commitment of $1.2 million in state funds for a new community center in north Iberville, Parish President J. Mitchell Ourso Jr. announced.

“We commend Senator Rob Marionneaux and State Rep. Karen St. Germain on their diligence and hard work in getting funding for this needed project,” Ourso said.

The two legislators joined Ourso at the Courthouse for the June 30 land transfer.

“They also had previously obtained $120,000 in state funding for purchase of the property,” the parish president said.

Ourso said Glen Shaheen and Associates is designing the facility, and he hopes to bid out the project in early next year.
