Events set for Veteran’s Day in Plaquemine

A salute to veterans and a sculpture dedication are part of the upcoming Veterans’ Day celebrations Nov. 11 in Plaquemine.

Events will be held at the nearly one-year old Iberville Veterans’ Memorial, located adjacent to City Hall and the Parish Courthouse.

The 156th Army Band is scheduled to perform at the event along with the Army, Coast Guard, Marine, and Navy Color Guards. There will be a variety of military equipment on display and a special tribute for all local veterans, including MIAs, POWs, and military that died in action, will be held. There will be an unveiling of three bronze statues at the memorial and an address by Air Force pilot Oscar Evans, who hails from the Parish.

The public is invited Wednesday, Nov. 11 to the big events that are sponsored by Iberville Parish Council and Parish President J. Mitchell Ourso, Jr.
