A Belleview Road man was arrested last week (Oct. 16) on a charge of striking a neighbor first with a stick, then with a large flashlight, Chief of Detectives Blair Favaron said.

Sean Kelley, 17, of 39455 La. 75, Plaquemine, was booked on a count of aggravated second degree battery in the case.

Favaron alleged that the suspect inserted himself into an argument between his mother and a woman neighbor.

“He became enraged,” the detective said, and struck the neighbor with a stick, left the scene, returned with a large flashlight and struck the woman several times with it.

Acadian Ambulance came to the scene, but family members drove the victim to a Morgan City hospital, Favaron said.

As of Monday, Kelley remained in the Iberville Parish Jail in lieu of bond, records showed. Bond information was not immediately available.

In other action, deputies arrested Gary Nicholas, 29, of 23806 Ferdinand Street, Plaquemine, on charges of possession with intent to distribute the drug MDMA (Ecstasy) and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on La. 1 South, Favaron said.

He said Nicholas agreed to a search of his vehicle, and deputies reported finding a small amount of marijuana and three tablets of MDMA.
