Final land acquired for Enterprise South
The Iberville Parish government last week acquired the final piece of right of way for building Enterprise Boulevard South, and expects to put the project out for bid in January, Parish President J. Mitchell Ourso Jr. reported last week.
Speaking to the Iberville Parish Council, Ourso estimated construction at six to seven months on the connector road between Enterprise Bridge over Bayou Plaquemine near the Iberville Parish Jail on Bayou Road and Belleview Road at Tenant.
The road is expected to attract a number of businesses plan to locate in the Belleview Road area near Wal-Mart.
Parish officials have been working for months to acquire the needed right of way, and bought the final track of land from the Cardinal family last week, Chief Administrative Officer Edward S. “Lucky” Songy Jr. said.
Ourso said parish crews already have started tearing down a fence at the jail, where some parish property will be used for the right of way.
In action last week, the Parish Council approved a resolution allowing a City of Plaquemine contractor to cross a hundred feet of the parish right of way with a new sewer main that will divert the city's treated sewer wastewater to the Mississippi River, replacing an outfall in the more environmentally-sensitive Bayou Plaquemine.
