Haynesville shuts out St. John, denies Eagles trip to Superdome

St. John’s spectacular 2009 season came to a screeching halt Friday night.

Haynesville used a high-octane rushing attack to run past St. John 26-0 amid harsh wintry conditions at Andrew Canova Green Devil Stadium.

The loss denied the Eagles a trip to the Louisiana Superdome for the Class 1A state championship game.

The Eagles last competed for the Class 1A title in 2006.

St. John, the 2009 District 8-1A champion, ended its season 12-2.

Haynesville will face defending 1A champ South Plaquemines next week at the Superdome.
