All three Iberville Parish boy basketball teams advanced Tuesday night to the state quarterfinals with regional hardwood playoff victories.

Class 3-A second-seeded Plaquemine High advanced to play Richwood High on the road Friday night with a 56-35 victory over visiting Iowa High.

Class 1-A ninth-seeded East Iberville High rolled over hosting Southern Lab 73-48 and will host top-seeded and District 8-A rival Christian Life Friday night in St. Gabriel in the quarterfinals.

And, Class A tenth-seeded White Castle High traveled up to Natchitoches and edged out hosting St. Mary’s High by a 35-32 score and thereby advanced to a Friday night quarterfinals visit to second-seeded Metairie Park County Day.

All three parish teams could end up in the state boys’ basketball tournament in Lafayette next week, if they can pull off victories Friday night in the quarterfinals. In recent years, PHS and WCHS have joined forces in the state tourney, but it has been several years since a trio of Iberville teams have made the trip at the same time. All three schools have made traditional visits to the Top 28 tourney over the last thirty years. WCHS has won four titles over that time period, while PHS won one in 1976. Plaquemine has reached the semifinals in the tourney the last two years, while WCHS last visited two years ago.
