Four-wheel driver killed in La. 1 wreck

The driver of a four-wheel vehicle died at a Donaldsonville hospital after a wreck at the intersection of La. 1 and Lacroix Road around 6 p.m. Sunday, White Castle Police Chief Mario Brown said.

Brown said it appeared Jerome Wesley of White Castle, who was traveling on Lacroix, struck the passenger side of a Mercury automobile driven by Marydean Westley, who was traveling on La. 1.

Westley was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the chief said.

Police closed of the northbound lanes of La. 1 for some two hours after the accident, he said.
