School officials are investigating a fight that broke out between Plaquemine High and White Castle High school students at a career day event at the Baton Rouge River Center last Thursday, Superintendent P. Edward Cancienne Jr. said.

Dr. Cancienne said the fight might have been instigated by a former White Castle student now attending school in Baton Rouge. He said he did not know how many were involved in the altercation, but that more than 100 Plaquemine High and 55 White Castle High students attended the career program.

“We have to give all these people due process and get statements before punishment is meted out,” the superintendent said. “There could be suspensions and expulsions.”

The principals of the two schools are heading the investigation, he said.
