Early voting in general election starts Tuesday

Early voting in the November 2 general election opens Tuesday at the Iberville Registrar of Voters Office on the second floor of the Courthouse.

The voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, October 19-23, and Monday and Tuesday, October 25-26. (The office is closed on Sunday, October 24.)

At stake for voters statewide are the special election for lieutenant governor between Secretary of State Jay Dardenne and first-time candidate Caroline Fayard, and the U.S. Senate race between Republican incumbent David Vitter and Democratic Congressman Charlie Melancon, along with 10 other candidates.

Some Iberville voters will help decide the Fifth District Congressional race between Republican incumbent Rodney Alexander of Quitman and Tom Gibbs Jr. of Fairbanks, La., and 10 proposed amendments to the Louisiana Constitution.

Voters in School Board District A in the Maringouin area will decide a run-off between Karen “Kay” Jewell, and Donald Ray Patterson. Incumbent Stanley Washington was shut out in the primary.

Town of Maringouin voters will decide a Board of Aldermen run-off between incumbent Edward James Jr. and John E. Carriere.
