Judge Dupont sentences nine defendants to prison
District Judge William C. Dupont last week sentence a Maringouin man to a 10-year prison term for forcible rape, District Attorney Richard J. “Ricky” Ward Jr. reported.
Curtis Allen, 19, of 10305 Lions Avenue, who pleaded guilty to the crime, was one of 12 defendants who entered guilty pleas before Dupont last week, and one of eight sentenced to serve time at the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
Dupont ordered five-year sentences for Ivan Montgomery, 31, of 4647 Earl Gros Road, Baton Rouge, who pleaded guilty as a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and Brian Poole, 43, of 78140 Wheelock Lane, Maringouin, who pleaded guilty to simple burglary.
The judge handed down three-year sentences to three other defendants – Therone Batiste, 24, of 6434 Silverleaf Avenue, Baton Rouge, convicted of possession of cocaine; Dwayne Cedotal, 26, of 57605 Random Oaks, Plaquemine, who pleaded guilty to theft valued at over $500 and attempted forgery, and Brandon Lemay, 40, of 57960 McDaniel, Plaquemine, convicted of driving while intoxicated.
Dupont further ordered one-year sentenced for Kelly Mosby, 54, of 33065 Bowie Street, White Castle, and Alvin Webb, 24, of 7586 La. 1, Innis, who pleaded guilty to forgery.
He sentenced four others to probation:
Jerard LaGarde, 43, of 17985 Willow Street, Grosse Tete, for simple burglary.
Michael Duncan, 26, of 33045 Bayou Sorrel Road, Plaquemine, illegal possession of stolen things.
Ryan Henson, 25, of 35555 La. 75, Plaquemine, aggravated assault with a firearm.
Brandi Sims, 33, of 57737 Canal Street, Plaquemine, three counts of theft valued at over $500.
