White Castle visits Block for 1A regional action

White Castle continues post-season high school football action Friday when the Bulldogs venture to Jonesville to face Block in regional playoff fare.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

WCHS (7-4), which finished the regular season as District 8-1A champion, heads to Catahoula Parish after a 12-0 win in a rematch against district runner-up West St. John.

The Bulldogs were the only Iberville Parish grid squad to emerge victorious last week in the first round of playoff action. Plaquemine’s season ended in a 37-6 loss against top-seeded Notre Dame –Crowley, while St. John fell in a 24-21 heartbreaker at Country Day-Metairie.

Block, the District 3-1A runner-up, enters the season 10-1 and 4-1 in district fare. The Bears survived a 29-26 thriller against Delhi in the opening playoff round.

Block’s only loss of the season came in a 24-7 finish against St. Mary’s of Natchitoches, the eventual 3-1A champion.

The Bears followed the loss with a 38-16 homecoming win over Montgomery, a 52-24 win over LaSalle and a 40-0 shutout at Tensas.

Tyree Brackin and LSU signee Ronald Martin will lead the Bulldogs into action, while quarterback Antoine Bowie and fullback Chase Duncan will help anchor the Bear offense.
