White Castle awaits St. Edmund In 1A quarterfinal playoff action

The Road to the Superdome continues the night after Thanksgiving for the White Castle Bulldogs, who entertain the St. Edmund Blue Jays in Class 1A quarterfinal playoff action.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Rocky Ourso Stadium. A large crowd is expected, with tailgating planned by many spectators.

The Bulldogs (9-3) advanced after a 34-19 win over Block at Jonesville. White Castle went unbeaten in district action to capture the 8-1A championship.

Friday night’s game marks White Castle’s first quarterfinal berth since 1977.

St. Edmund (9-2) stayed in the 1A championship hunt after a 34-21 win over Country Day-Metairie.

Coach Ferrante Dominique’s Bulldogs beat West St. John in the opening round of the playoffs, while St. Edmumd’s  toppled Delcambre 32-20 in that round.

The only two losses of the season for the Blue Jays were a 28-7 finish against St. Mary of Natchitoches and a 44-14 defeat against Westminster Academy of Opelousas.
