WHAT’S NEW IN IBERVILLE... PGC Essay Contest Winners!

ESSAY WINNERS...Plaquemine Garden Club held its annual High School Essay Contest and winners were honored recently. Plaquemine High senior Kayla Mumphery and St. John High junior Denny Uong won this year’s annual Plaquemine Garden Club High School Student Essay Contest recently.

The two winners were honored at the January club meeting, held at the home of Gayle Schwing. They read their winning essays for the club members at the meeting.

Mumphery’s essay was entitled: “The Environment-Our Personal Responsibility”.

Uong’s essay was entitled: “Nature Gives, People Should Give Back”.

Mumphery is a member of the Plaquemine High Beta, JROTC, and Spanish Clubs as well as the 4-H Club. She was recognized in the 2007-2010 Educational Talent Search. Uong is a member of the SJHS Beta Club and the National Honor Society.

Honorable Mentions were handed out to: PHS students Howarneshia Bates, Taylor McDaniel, Rebekah Morgan, Shania Tullier; and to SJHS students Emily Palermo, Blane Palazzo, and Kristen Seneca.
