Ten plead guilty, DA Ward reports
District Judge Alvin Batiste Jr. sentenced two men to prison terms in action in 18th
Judicial District Court last week, District Attorney Richard J. “Ricky” Ward reported.
Batiste handed down a five-year sentence with the Louisiana Department of Corrections for Theron Braud, 29, of New Orleans, who pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and illegal possession of stolen things.
He ordered a three-year sentence for Shawndrick Watkins, 32, of 57808 New Erwin Drive, Plaquemine, who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of MDMA (the drug ecstasy), illegal possession of stolen things and possession of cocaine.
They were among ten who entered guilty pleas before Batiste on Friday. Felony Prosecutor Timothy Collins obtained the plea agreements, Ward said in a news release.
Judge Batiste set sentencing for three defendants for April 6. They were named as:
– Christopher Stewart, 29, of 23903 Punchie Wilson Street, Plaquemine, who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
– Alfred Watts, 28, of 57624 True Hope Lane, Plaquemine, who pleaded guilty to distribution of counterfeit cocaine, distribution of cocaine, aggravated battery and possession of marijuana.
– Matthew Color, 49, of 18005 Willow Street, Grosse Tete, who pleaded guilty to distribution of cocaine.
The judge sentenced the five other defendants to serve probation. They are:
– Brandon Governor, 20, of 4152 Main Street, Plaquemine, three years' probation for possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
– Travis Simmons, 22, of 24737 Huey Street, Plaquemine, three years' probation for possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
– Xzavian Menair, 23, of 58250 Nicholas Street, Plaquemine, three years for possession of a Schedule II narcotic.
– Eugene Johnson, 67, 25925 Iberville Manor, Plaquemine, two years' probation for possession of cocaine.
– Phillip Breaux, 27, of Belle Rose, two years' probation for aggravated fight from an officer and possession of marijuana.
The addresses listed were the defendants' at the time of their arrests.
