Big book sale opens next week at Civic Center
The Friends of the Iberville Public Libraries will offer hundreds of volumes of books at bargain prices at its annual book sale next week at the Carl F. Grant Civic Center's West Wing.
Book donations were brisk this year, so there will be lots of new material, said Friends' President Bethany Cardinal.
The regular sale featuring a larger selection is set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday (March 23-24), with paperbacks going for 25 cents, hard cover books for 50 cents, and CDs and DVDs for $1 each. Giftware, encyclopedias and other items also will be on sale.
Book prices will be cut in half from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday (March 25). Patrons can get a box of books for a buck from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Before the public sale opens, there will be a members-only Early Bird sale from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Beside the first choice of offerings, members get a 10 percent discount on their purchases. Members – and those who want to become members – are invited to the sale.
Membership dues are $1 for a student, $3 for a senior citizen, $5 each for other individuals and $10 for a family.
Proceeds of the sale go to providing prizes for the Iberville Parish Library's summer reading program for children, a variety of programs throughout the year and other library support efforts.
