Students headed to Tulane can apply for scholarship

Students who live in Senate District 17, which includes Iberville Parish, have until the end of April to apply to sate Sen. Rob Marionneaux Jr. for a $19,000 Tulane University Scholarship.

In a continued effort to avoid public criticism, Marionneaux said he would again use a committee of three appointed by the Rotary Clubs of New Roads, Port Allen and Plaquemine recommend the recipient. The scholarship, a tuition waiver, will be for one year.

Recipients will be ranked according to their academic merit, financial need, involvement in school activities, involvement in community activities and leadership abilities.

Those interested in applying should sent a resume' and a cover letter saying why they should receive the scholarship to Marionneaux at P.O. Box 577, Livonia, Louisiana 70755. Those not postmarked by April 30 will not be considered.
