Georgia Gulf Golf Tournament to Support Iberville Relay for Life

Georgia Gulf Corporation announced last week that its Plaquemine chemicals operation will host the 12th annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament on April 11 to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Iberville Parish chapter.

The tournament at The Island Country Club in Plaquemine marks the seventh consecutive year that Georgia Gulf has sponsored this fundraiser. In 2010, the tournament raised $21,355. It was he most generated for Relay for Life by any single event in Iberville Parish.

“Georgia Gulf and the employees at the Plaquemine plant have a long history of community involvement, and the Iberville Relay for Life golf tournament is part of our commitment to protecting and enhancing the health and safety of our employees and the people in the communities where we operate,” said Charlie Freeburgh, General Manager Operations, Chemicals and Polymers.

The golf tournament is an 18-hole scramble involving 72 four-member teams and organizers are still looking for hole sponsors for the morning and afternoon flights.
