Parish turns over fire truck to Maringouin VFD

Parish officials turned over a new fire truck and a new rescue unit to the Maringouin Volunteer Fire Department in ceremonies Friday.

Parish President J. Mitchell Ourso Jr. said the $741,000 worth of equipment is the first “real property” the parish has seen from $44 million in federal Hurricane Gustav relief funds.

Parish Council Chairman Matt Jewell announced last week that the State Office of Community Development's Disaster Recovery Unit has just approved $363,929 from the $44 million fund to cement the sides of a Town of Maringouin drainage canal.
