State Police agency moves to on-line sales

Staff reports

Starting June 1, the Louisiana State Police Traffic Records Section will sell most crash reports only on-line starting June 1, but service will still be available at local troop headquarters.

After that date, they will no longer accept mail-in requests or service walk-in customers. Incoming mail requesting the reports postmarked after May 31 will be returned to the sender.

Anyone who does not have computer access can purchase a crash report from a local Louisiana State Police Troop. Reports on fatal crashes can onlybe purchased in person from a troop. In this area it is Troop A at 17801 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70810. The number for the office is (225) 754-8518.

Crash reports can be purchased on-line by visiting www.lsp.org, then clicking on the “LSP STATEWIDE CRASH REPORTS” link on the homepage.  Multiple crash reports may be purchased in a single transaction.  A login ID must be created/used to finalize the transaction.  Each crash report costs $8.50.  Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted methods of payment.  Once checkout is complete, customers will be able to print a PDF copy of the requested report.

From the launch of on-line sales last April through December 31, Traffic Records sold almost 9000 crash reports on-line.  That was more than 50 percent of all crash report sales statewide.
